Radio Frequencies

The Vestal Fire Department is dispatched by full time paid dispatchers at Broome County's Emergency Services Communications Center.

Fire department personal are notified of alarms by radio, using a tone alerting system.  Each station has its own tone which activates radio receivers belonging only to that station's members.  The dispatcher will activate the tones for the stations due to respond to an alarm and announce the alarm location.  Each fire department member carries a pager and also has a home tone activated receiver.

We invite you to listen in.  But we ask you to listen from home, rather than crowd the fire scene with spectators who will get in the way of firefighters trying to do their job.  The following VHF frequencies are used by the Vestal Fire Department:

  • 154.310 - F1 - Dispatch / Mobile Repeater
  • 154.355 - F2 - Fireground 1
  • 153.890 - F3 - Fireground 2 - Interior Operations
  • 153.770 - Fire Police
